SSS June Card Kit: Blissful

Hey y'all!  I wanted to start the week off with a post featuring the Simon Says Stamp June Card Kit...I've had these cards sitting on my desk and just haven't had tine to put a post together so let's get to it!  First, here's a glimpse at what was included in the kit:

Don't you just love it?!  Although this kit was heavily themed towards weddings, I did try to sneak some cards in that could be used for occasions other than that...but the wedding theme was so predominant that there are many wedding cards here!

Card 1 was inspired by a die that I haven't gotten to use yet.  It was a My Favorite Things 'Free with $60' several months back and I just didn't have a use for it at the time, but love it with this kit!  I inked a scrap piece of cardstock using the Distress Oxide ink pad from the kit and a regular Distress Ink pad from my stash, splashed them with water and then die cut the rose.  I in-laid the die into some black cardstock that I'd painted with a clear glitter pen.  It really makes it stand out, and that sparkle gets me every time!

I painted the scalloped frame with silver Distress Paint to mimic a wooden frame, and then attached all of my pieces to some of the patterned papers from the kit that I'd layered onto a black card base.  Lastly, I backed the sentiment, which I'd stamped and die cut, with foam tape and placed it along the bottom of the frame.

Card 2 is pretty simple...I really wanted to use that big floral stamp!  I heat embossed my image onto some black cardstock using Ballerina Pink embossing powder by Nuvo.

I fussy cut around one edge of the floral arrangement and then layered it onto some patterned papers using foam tape.  Add a few Nuvo drops,  the sentiment, and this one's done!

For card 3, even though there was a Daniel Smith water color sample card included in the kit, my Zig's were calling my name...and they yield such lovely, happy colors don't you think?!  I used the individual stamps in the set to create my own pattern and heat embossed the images (and the sentiment) in white.

I think when you're doing a custom panel such as this, it always helps to add a bit of shadow or muted color to the background to really make the images pop!  A few sequins never hurt either! ;)

Card 4 is another simple one...the large floral image is stamped twice in mirror fashion and then heat embossed in silver.  The sentiment is heat embossed in pink onto a piece of vellum, attached to a strip of patterned paper from the kit and then wrapped onto the main panel.

A few silver Nuvo drops and two pink gems add a bit of interest.  Voila!

The ivory envelope that came in my kit had been creased pretty badly during shipping, so using it for one of the cards was definitely out.  To keep it from going to waste, I decided to use the parts of it that weren't damaged!  So, for card 5, I stamped and clear heat embossed the main image onto the envelope, sponged some of the Distress Oxide ink over the image and flicked it with water.  I decided to edge it using a scalloped border die.

Then, I made several flags out of scraps from the patterned papers that I'd used so far and arranged them underneath the envelope panel.  You can't really tell from the photo, but the panel is cut from a piece of pewter shimmer cardstock that is gorgeous in person!  This is the first time I've used these gemstones by Studio Katia, but it definitely won't be the last...they give a glorious sparkle when they hit the light! :D

For card 6, I was in the mood to color again!  This time I chose to use Copics and went with a slightly darker color palette.  I stamped the sentiment directly onto my colored panel and then layered the panel onto one of the patterned papers and a strip of black glitter washi tape.

I love using a white gel pen to add tiny details when you use darker colors...it really makes a difference!

Card 7...I relied mainly on some of the patterned papers for this one!  With the different metallic shades, this is probably the closest I can come to making a masculine wedding card... ;D

The image is heat embossed using Rose Gold embossing powder onto the other side of the ivory envelope, and the sentiment stickers actually came from the last Love From Lizi card kit...how convenient!

For cards 8 and 9, I was back into water color mode...and this time I used the Daniel Smith dot card!

I made this one into a thank you card and the next one into a wedding card...

Between the two cards, I think the results are so different for only having 4 colors to work with!

I really, really like these water colors...I feel a water color upgrade in my future! :D

And last but not least...card 10!  I think this one may be the least time consuming of the batch...I die cut the panel from patterned paper, die cut the HAPPY word die in the center, back with gold glitter washi tape, stamp the big floral image with Distress Oxide...

Stamp the smaller sentiments onto pink paper, mat with black cardstock, pop them up with foam tape, adhere the whole panel onto a pink card base, and done!  Twenty minutes tops!

I had great fun with June's kit...I don't know about you, but my crafting takes a back seat to the kiddos when they're out of school, so mine is few and far between but still so rewarding.  Thank you so much for dropping by today...I hope you're able to find some time to be creative this summer!

Hugs,
